Severe thunderstorm - July 26th, 2011

These are photos and video taken on July 26th, 2011 at about 1:15pm in the town of Vernon of a severe thunderstorm which shortly thereafter produced the tornadoes and microburst in the town of Kirkland. I followed the storm initially from the town of Verona and routes 365 and 31, through Vernon and Westmoreland all the way to Franklin Springs in Kirkland where the microburst occurred. The video here was taken in the parking lot of the Utica-Rome Speedway facing west. The storm originally was moving about 40mph but gathered speed and intensity and was on top of us before we knew it. The storm arrived in the town of Kirkland and just exploded. We also observed funnels several times while chasing this storm.
