Columbia Street Fire

Around 2:30 A.M. A fierce fire broke out at 612 Columbia Street. The local fire and police departments did there best to secure the area and put out the fire. Within several minutes the fire engulfed the whole building, jumping to the building next to it(614 Columbia Street-Elwoods Coffeehouse & Road Show). The fire fighters did there best to stop the fire from spreading but with the two building within feet from one another it was a battle to be lost. 612 and 614 Columbia Street building were swallowed into smokey darkness. Finally the blaze was under control and the fire was stopped dead in it tracks before spreading to the 2 adjoining buildings near the corner of Varick and Columbia Street. Here are pictures and some video that were taken within minutes of the fire starting. I overheard there was a person missing presumed trapped in the blaze. Two other people were taking to the hospital with burns and an infant was rescued. Big thanks to the local police and fire department doing the best they could in the weather conditions they faced. Two building were lost but many others buildings and lives were saved.
