On Saturday August 13, four Westmoreland teenagers and the Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department teamed up to create a community day at the Westmoreland Highway Deptarment Garage and Firemen’s Field from noon to 9:30pm, ending with fireworks.
Cory Iffert, Peter Donnelly, Courtney Frenyea, and Alexander Lallier, all 19 or 18 years old, brought the community together to enjoy a family friendly festival including eight local bands, chicken bbq, over 25 vendors, bounces houses, carnival games, fireworks, and the Utica Zoomobile.
The Westmoreland Summer Fest drew over 750 guests throughout the day and 450 stayed for fireworks. This is an annual event that will grow each year with fresh ideas and endless support from the Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department, Westmoreland Highway Superintendent, local sponsors, and volunteers. Sponsors include: Claycomb Auto Sales, Nice n Easy Grocery Shoppes, Next to New Consignment Shoppe, North Star Orchards, P&L Talma, Inc., Snyder’s Flooring, Snyder’s Auto Sales & Car Care Center, Westmoreland PTO, and Westmoreland Kiwanis Club.
