There was a noisy commotion in our backyard this morning (November 27, 2011) as there was a pair of pileated 'peckers with a hairy woodpecker alongside. Quite a sight to spot a pair at the same time! They both visited here for about twenty minutes, which is a good while, as they are spooked very easily.
