Bobcats do exist in NYS, it is very rare to see one though. There is a trapping season for them and you can find out about that by reading the NYS Hunting And Trapping Guide. Mountain Lions or Cougars are what the DEC says aren't around.

They've been around Richfield Springs for at least 5 years. Had one try to attack my turkey decoys on the first day of the season 5 years ago. Had one cross in front of my truck on Hogsback road 4 years ago on my way to work.

Very cool! But I'm sure the D.E.C. will tell you that they are not here in this area just like the Cougars, Coyotes and Wolves that are not up here in Trenton!
