Winter is the time when we up here in the Remsen area discover many roadkills along our back roads and thats where you find eagles. These three photos show one imature eagle looking over the slim pickings of a deer carcus. Night time brings in the coydogs(coyote) which usually clean up a carcus over night but eagles and crows do feed on scraps or what ever is left over during daytime hours. As many as nine eagles have been spotted at one time here recently working over a deer carcus. Eagles are known to come down into your farms or lots around here and snatch up cats, small dogs, chickens, ducks, and rabbits to get a meal. Some tomes you can observe eagles diving down onto open water and come up with fish in their tallons. I will have more photos in the future. Bruce L. Phelps Remsen New York
