The excellent young men and assorted siblings of Pack 21 took to the streets of West Winfield today to raise awareness for the condition of down syndrome. Today March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. Two brothers in our pack had the courage to stand up in front of their peers and talk about the challenges their youngest brother, Joshman, has faced and will face. Joshman is 4 years old and was born with down syndrome. After our pack made up some signs supporting down syndrome awareness we walked from the school to the village green on the main corner in town. We had at least a hundred cars honk for our cause and every honk was answered with a loud appreciative cheer from our guys. Joshman approved of the event and the popcicles. Besides raising awareness in the community, our cub scouts aged 5 to 11 all came away from the day with clearer understanding of the condition of DS. The community should be proud of their local cubs!
