Just about noon today, my wife was in the kitchen, and I was in the den, when I suddenly heard her yell "Oh My God",I knew something was really not good. I hurried to the kitchen where she was looking out the east window and saying, "Look, Look", and here comes this bear walking toward and around the house. She closed the kitchen door and went to the other window, while I went to get my camera, and the bear wandered around to the bird feeder, where he then stood up to check it out. He didn't bother the feeder, but was quite interested in what was going on inside the house, and that's when my hands stopped shaking long enough to snap this picture. In all the many years we have lived here, never of us have ever seen a bear down around the house, nor in the woods. I'm sure we will remember this day forever, it was quite a thrill and he was a good size animal as verified by the DEC officer looking at this picture.
