The West Canada Valley Legion Post #1524 hosted a flag disposal ceremony at the Newport Fire Department on June 14, 2012. Approximately fifty people were in attendance. Several flags from the community and local cemeteries were disposed of in a proper manner. Legion Post #1524 has also set up a flag disposal box at the Newport Fire Station at 7350 Main Street in Newport. Community members are welcome to drop off flags at any time for proper disposal.
