Local Stroke Survivor Recognized

On Wednesday, June 5th Keith Wilcox of New Berlin received the Lew Roberts Memorial Award from the American Heart Association. The Lew Roberts Memorial Award was presented to Keith to recognize his accomplishments and participation in American Heart and Stroke Association events as a stroke survivor. Keith, a volunteer at Chase Nursing Home in New Berlin, was very surprised when he arrived at what he thought was a program for residents and saw his wife and in-laws awaiting him along with Kelly Karram of the American Heart Association who presented the award. In June 2010, Keith survived a stroke and became the honoree of Team Keith formed in March 2011. Team Keith has participated in various Heart Walk events raising over $1,100 for the American Heart and Stroke Associations each year. Every year Keith has participated as well and truly enjoys his walks at the Masonic Care Community in Utica, NY where he received his post-stroke therapy. As captain of Team Keith, I could not be more proud of not only the accomplishments of Team Keith but also of Keith individually. Congratulations Keith!
