This is a picture of the garbage at Van Allens Nursing Home in Little Falls, NY. As you can see it is overflowing and unsanitary.
That is not just garbage. It is human waste!!
This,is a disgrace!!! it was family owned.The "Van Allens" would not let this this happen.If there were going to change the name, change it!!! "DON'T RUIN (VAN ALLENS NURISING HOMES NAME)
Absolutely, this is not the Van Allens. This is an absentee owner that probably did not pay the garbage pick up bill.
Instead of someone saying it should be reported to the state why doesn't someone just report it. It's disgusting,smelly, & it attracts a wide variety of animals. Call the state--don't just say it should be done.

this IS a New York City owner disgracing what this facility was founded for.. they have taken away everything that the Van Allens have accomplished over their dedicated years... Is the city of Little Falls with their brand new MAYOR proud of this?
If you think the outside looks bad, take a tour of the facility! I was there to visit, and not a drop of soap to wash your hands in any bathroom, even the residents! Someone needs to step in and do something, as its is critical for the residents.
NO ,I have seen & been in worst places .The CARE the residents recieve is very GOOD considerating what the staff has to work with
I know people that work there and this place is disgusting!!! and the people are not to friendly to work for!!!
Yes the garbage is nasty. but do not lie anonymous. I wash my hands a 100 times a day and there is always soap. The residents get showers and are provided with soap. Submit only the true facts.
Well I can vouge for anonymous. In fact it was just 4 weeks ago. We were all told "NO SOAP, but its been ordered", and the reason being- the owner isnt paying any of his suppliers. Whats next? Residents supplies? Thats happening already!
the owner maybe disgusting but the staff keep the place clean on the inside .the floors get MOPPED everyday sometimes several times a day per residents request .Unlike some valley nursing homes .
I surely hope that the NYSDOH is reading this blog. Every resident in this facility was once someones baby,son,daughter,mother,father etc.Just imagine if it were yours? Wouldn't you want better for them than this? Families get involved ask questions!
In reguard's to the Sstate being notified? It does no good because the Sstate announce's when they will be arriving, so by that time everything gets cleaned up, and swept away.
Talk about neglect abuse? as an employee there i know this to be a fact, WE HAVE NO STAFF! resident's are being neglected not enough adi's to take proper care of everybody. and the administrator? creedon doesn't know how to run a nursing home
I agree there is not enough staff to do proper care But the staff that is there do the best they can
As an employee at Van Allen, The garbage is only a very small part of what goes on there. Resident abuse and withholding IMPORTANT information is also a VERY big and dangerous problem. Just ask the admin. Creedon she knows what im talking about.
OH sure lets all write so monday we get another pay cut or half a check next week, abuse not that i see except on employees and what "important information" maybe people should share information while inside staff is low but what there is do good.

I too work at VANH and this blog has gotten way out of hand. VANH is not a bad place to work. We have been thru a lot in the past 3 yrs. but we are not without soap, we do not abuse our patients. Try to find a better place to work!!
I think this is just a bunch of trash talk from some disgruntled employees that might better use their time for something more productive. Every Nursing Home has staffing problems, that is why the turn over from home to home is so great.
I would like annonymous to let us know if things are so bad then why are you there and where will you be working that is better????? If you know so much about everything why are you an aide?? Sounds like you should be running a facility.
If you work in a nursing home you would know that the State does not announce when they will be visiting. They stop at the front office as they come in the building to say they are there.
Well first of all, the STATE does announce an approximate time frame. Thus the reason Van Allen Nursing home knows the STATE will be there this coming week. They dont give exact times, or dates just an approximate. Amazingly the garbage is cleaned up
as far as where else can you work.....ANYWHERE! Not only is the nursing home poorly run, but its very underhanded. Why were ALL employees pay cut recently? FRAUD! Why was the employee insurance, that we paid for weekly, cancelled? Not once but TWICE!
Its about staffing 1 LPN and 2 Aides on a 40 bed Psych/Rehab unit. Its about improvising the standards of care and neglecting residents of needed medical supplies. For example, substituting garbage bags and tape for colostomy bags! Its a DISGRACE!
I didn't get a pay cut!!! Must be you didn't understand how the 35 hr. thing worked. You are still getting paid the same as you were then it just looks different on paper. Do the math it works out the same!!!!
To insider: Don't just say you can work anywhere. Be specific. I want details as to where things are that much better. I still think this has just become a place to blow hot air because someone is too afraid to talk things out at work.
I don't understand. If you still work there why are you trying to cut your own throat and not have a job. Do something productive to improve things. If you are that unhappy leave and let someone else that wants to work do the job!!!!
nimo has been here to turn off power.the phone company.yes we had pay cuts that we should get back.If you want staffing to be better ,come to work. dont call in and start working as a team.instead people worry about who there going to work with.
After reading all of the comments I can see that this is an intrernal affair Yes with new owners comes new changes But hiding behind your computer throwing punches isn't the solution Mrs Creedon is not all the blame She has superiors to answer to to.
Why isn't there any pride in the work place anymore If EVERYONE would come together with the new owners I'm sure a compermise could be met Be reasonable and try it I wish you all the best
Creedon is doing the best job that she can. Her hands are tied by the owners. They arent allowing her to do her job efficiently! As Far as coming to a compromise, EVERY employee attempted to with the owners at an informal meeting a few months ago .
Staff has been trying, and the owners just turn a deaf ear. If it weren't for the kind hearted, compassionate staff the nursing home would sink. Staff continue to be neglected financially, despite the OWNERS receiving a GRANT to increase wages.
Van Allens has great potential! Sure we could all go elsewhere, WE DONT. We like the location, like what we do and truly ENJOY OUR residents. Its the RESIDENTS! We put our best into ensuring our residents a safe, comfortable and Homelike Environment!
OK, WE HAVE ALOT OF PROBLEMS. BUT IF THE ADMISISTRATOR WOULD HAVE A BACK BONE? AND STOP BEING A YES SIR PERSON, AND MAKE SOME VERY IMPORTANT DECISSION'S ON HER OWN? THAT'S A START. SHE DOESN'T NEED PERMISSION FOR ALL DESISSIONS, WE NEED A NEW ADMIN.
Mayer, the owner, needs to stick to his dyeing t-shirt business. the employees would be estatic if he left. He has NO followers there. He promised tons of things and changes and HAS NOT followed thru. Everything that happens is his doing.
Its like this: we stay becuz of the residents. NO CHAPEL no activity room-supplies running out (due to nonpayment)-no raise in ? years- HUGE STAFF SHORTAGE. what about residents missing money intheir accounts? whered the grant money goto? OMBUDSMAN??
go to walmart and by soap for the residents and for the staff they smell worst then the garabge
and plus no chapel wuts up wit that just because the owners aren't catholic doesn't mean the chapel should be takin away it's a disgrace.. it should be a place where elderly peps can enjoy there time and leave this world in peace not just sit around
this should be brought to the community in some sort of way cause change needs to happen so that the elderly can enjoy their later years
THE OWNER? THE ADMINISTRATOR? PAY CUTS? RESIDET'S GOING WITHOUT? NO STAFF? THERE IS NO WORKING OUT ANYTHING WITH ANY MEETING, IF ANY OF THIS WAS EVEN ADDRESSED? WE WOULD LOSE OUR JOB'S. AND THE LABOR BOARD? I HAVE CONTACTED, STATE? THAT'S A WASTE.
i know this to be a fact! the owner? all he cares about is making his profit. and that's it! selfishness, if he cared about those resident's or employe's he wouldn't care so much about lining his own pocket's. it's discusting. he has no compassion.
I have been at Van Allens for years and what is being said for the most part is out of context. What everyone has to put into perspective is how this is affecting our residents and their families that we provide services for everyday.
nice picture. that camera probably has a phone in it too. I and others are going out of or way to improve this facility. the maintenance department gets called for lesser things at all hours of every day. why not for this.
this is not how this building looks.... i have been there several times and i know how thing are run.some of the things said on this site are just iinsane!! the residents are treated like they are family and the employes work hard to do their job!!!
NH you must be a family member of a resident with private insurance and perhaps a private room! Seems there are different standards for every resident! Would you seriously think these actions would occur in front of visitors?OR be made known? THINK!
I worked for the LF dpw and we pulled DIRTY bed sheets out of the sewer.
The person that submitted the picture to wktv should be fired! That didn't happen.
You know if people truly cared about the residents and less about themselves change could happen. It only takes 1 persons to start a reaction. So why dont those of you who talk big on here volunteer or work for change ? Words are empty.
You know workin with the residents 1 smile 1 laugh is worth more then the gold in the world. things arent perfect but we are talking about human life here. Try to make a difference instead of makin trouble.

Anyone with common sense can read these blogs and see there are a bunch of employees/ex-employees who don't get their own way so they trash talk. I know I work with them. They're the ones who call in and then complain about working short handed.
With BRAINS?? If you had any brains at all, you wouldnt be bad mouthing your co workers. Perhaps, you're the reason YOUR co workers call out! Seems, there are a few employees up there that like to eat there young! There is no " I " in team!!
Maybe this is why there are bears roaming in this area free food!
Working in activities and working on the unit are 2 seperate entities! You're getting paid to have a good time, and play. The rest of us are doing direct care under horrible conditions, and no staff. Of course, none of which affect YOU!
So why would you complain? As long as the residents keep pretending to be happy, and keep hiding behind them smiles, you feel you've accomplished something! Not EVERY resident participates in activities. You may see 15 residents a day,we see all 80!
All of you are being talked about by different health care facilities. Chances are if you apply to another facility and put Van Allen on your application as a previous employer, you wont be hired based on this blog. A BUNCH OF TROUBLE MAKERS!!!!!
Maybe we can blame the nursing home for Global Warming.
I work there. A few months ago I witnessed a LPN tie a resident to a chair with 2 gait belts, and laughed when the man tried to stand and couldn't. It was reported to Creedon & Talerico. It was seen by PT,CNAs,RN. That nurse is still working.
You are lying A. about working there B. about the alleged incident. Proof: Talerico has been ancient history for a long time. You probably also are ancient history for some stupidity you did and are now trying to get back at the facility.
If that truly happened, and you feel it was ignored by staff-then why are you still working here? Did you yourself report the conduct to the state? If not, your just as much at fault as the nurse who carried out the act. If you did, it was unfounded!
First of all that "incident" was not a few months ago but over a year ago and Talerico was not even a thought of being hired yet so you did not report it to her. Second of all it was investigated by the state and there was no findings.
Weekends-no laundry people =no supplies for staff! No housekeepers after 2:30 p.m., therefore the place is filthy. Signing for paychecks and having to wait for them is ridiculous. Try speaking to Maher... he won't look you in the eye.
certain rules for certain staff. rules should apply for everybody. staff that get written up are not liked, and that is not right.
all the DON cares about is those stupid bunnies! And the south unit manager. What do bunnies have to do with nursing? NOTHING!

Maher was heard telling the head of housekeeping to not schedule any staff on the weekend. Shame on you Maher! Abuse to the staff!!!!!!!More $ in your pocketbook!
Its a shame that we have someone like Maher trying to run things this way. Where are his morals? Does he have an ounce of compassion in his soul? He needs to be a resident here, and be held to the lifestyle these residents have to live everyday!
Whom ever heard (if they really heard) about Maher commenting about house keeping staffing better get their hearing aid fixed. He is always asking to make sure that there is enough staff. Nice try. It just doesn’t wash

The real shame is that someone like you has nothing else better to do in their life than to spread lies about the facility its owners and staff.The place never looked or operated as well as it is now.The state came this week and were really impressed
IF the state was impressed, it was due to the mere fact that you had a 3 week notice they were coming! Why lie? What do you all that keep covering for Mr Maher feel you have to gain by demizing the public? I dont agree with anything your stating!
When the Van Allens owned that place, it was properly staffed and properly run. Things were done the RIGHT way, not the CROOKED way. Staff were treated with respect, and felt appreciated. What has this Maher character done for HIS staff? NOTHING!
When Van Allen owned the place residents were left in pools of urine overnight afraid to call any one because they would get yelled at. No one cared because no one did any thing of course it was better for you then you didn’t have to do much.

Maher is all about his residents. They come first and that’s the way it should be.
All you’re interested in is YOU and the way YOU should be treated. What have YOU done lately for others except lie about your co workers and your place (or X place) of employment. If YOU are so unhappy just leave.
I work for the Department of Health, so blow smoke to someone other than me! I know how we do things here, and I am fully aware of how the nursing home is being run. Yes, Van Allen Nursing Home was given notice as to when they could expect us.
Go online and check out state/federal sites about VANH.See whos lying then.If nothing was wrong why was the state there last Oct for weeks.LPN incident did happen.Ask some of the south unit staff. Oh wait.most of them were let go.convienent.

"Get the Facts" seems to know what he/she is talking about! However, there was an extreme amount of deficiencies recorded during survey. Hence the reason for the routine follow ups the state has to do. So much for Maher and HIS residents!

Maher does not run nursing. That is done by RNs LPNs and CNAs. They don’t do it right it results in deficiencies. Making sure the job is well done is getting staff how can do the job properly and take pride in doing it.Get the real facts.
This blog is soo out of hand it is embarrassing to those of us that work there. No Health Dept. surveyor is on this blog, give me a break! The last time the State walked in it was unannounced and due to a complaint from the South unit.
The State came, checked the problem and left. Yes there were many problems from Oct. 2007, but read the public report. It was mostly lack of paper work problems. Every nursing home has staffing and worker problems.
The turn over of aides from place to place is part of the reason for the problems. An aide doesn't do the job right so they get fired and then move on to the next facility to do it again. Very few aides truley love the work and show it.
This blog has turned into a sounding board for a bunch of unknowledgable people with big mouths that obviously would rather be unemployed than trying to make a difference!!!
Do the job properly? If that isnt a joke and a half. You can only do with what you have to work with. IF staff were setup appropriately, they'd be able to do there job efficiently! Expecting 1 CNA to keep 40 residents dry for an 8 hour shift,COME ON!
I myself thinks the place looks to be much improved. working conditions are ok, everyone runs out of things at home why should this place be any different . I think people need to grow up and start acting your age .

I think by now you’ve succeeded in showing everyone that you’re only interested in causing problems. Not solutions. If you’re still working at the facility; step up if not just buzz off.
They are out to make their money off your backs, and will cheat in any way to do so. Get a life, get some pride, and get OUT!

i have been employed at the home for sometime now, most of the residents are like family. I agree with what you are saying about some things, but others is false. I would like to know where the raises are. Cant get any real answers, so who knows

How come an aide was recently fired for "abuse" but the Lpn that tied a resident with a restraint is still there? And, she could care less about working there!
When people call this place, if you ask the person who answers, a question, her answer is "I don't know!". That is some answer! And she is not friendly!
Why is the recorded message on the phone not right? Voice mail for people that don't work there anymore are on the line. Time to change it!
This used to be a nice place to work but not anymore. The Jews have made the job harder for everybody and unbearable! Nobody enjoys going to work! Nice place!
The insurance sucks! Blood work- annual deductible- $500! Ridiculous! When VanAllens owned it there was no annual deductible!
We need a raise!!!!!!!!We all know where that $ went!
The $ went to the consultants and state fines. If you were doing your jobs instead of complaining about having to move your buts and calling in all the time maybe some of it would have ended up in your pockets But loosers will always be loosers.
If you are soooo unhappy just LEAVE instead of reminiscing about the Van Allens all the time. Unless you are one of them.
