July 19 Coach Terry Wolcott, along with bowlers Josh Belfiore and Keith Marble head to Syracuse for a journey beyond their expectations: They are off to Holland as USA sports ambassadors. Terry was chosen as a result of her award from USBC as Coach of the Year, the boys were selected by process of interviews. The trip took them to Chicago then onto a 14 hour flight ( 6 hours were lost due to time change) when arriving in Holland in was Sunday!!! Meeting two new friends who will be roommates for 10 days was a feat in its self, and then there was 14 new team mates and a new coach. 9 hours of bowling clinic, but plenty time of sight seeing. Tour of the Canal, Cheese factory, Wooden shoe factory, and of course a trip to Holland would not be complete without a bike ride. At the friendship village Wednesday night July 23 - Opening Ceremony was held Olympic style - what a rush. They even lit the cauldron. Tournament play began on Thursday and concluded on Sunday. Monday ended the festivities with the trip back to the USA. Back with many new friends and lots of new culture and even new Dutch words:

I agree with the coach, not necessarily the winning or losing but getting there and meeting others in the sport. Great article

Keith started out first after the first 3 games in his division: after 10 games he finished 5th: Josh bowled over his average, but he got more into the international theme of things. I'm not sure where he finished, but he had fun.

Wasn't about winning: the fact that the boys got to bowl with athletes from Belgium, Sweeden, Netherlands, and England was the best part. We all got to trade some American items for items from those countries: Got a lot of pictures and memories.
