Congratulations to Helen Michaels, Day Habilitation Specialist (Oneida County) and Deborah Morley, Habilitation Specialist II (Lewis County) on being named Employee-of-the-Third-Quarter in their respective regions. Doug Merz, Program Director of Day Services, and Helen Michaels’s supervisor, says “Helen is a problem solver, and goes above and beyond, taking extra time to teach the ‘why’ behind a job or goal. Helen unselfishly helps other staff at any time with any task. Her co-workers know they can always rely on her support and help.” Helen, who lives in Stockbridge, has been an active volunteer at Agency events. Deborah Morley, Habilitation Specialist II, was nominated by Janine Stoddard, Service Liaison, who stated that “Deb’s contributions as a positive team member in our residential habilitation program have, in part, allowed us to provide services that are respected and sought after in the community.” Compassionate, patient and caring, Deb foresees obstacles and responds proactively. She voluntarily learned sign language to become a more effective assistant to consumers with significant hearing impairment. Deb lives in Remsen with husband Tom and son William. Helen and Deb are both known to spend many hours in their time off assisting consumers in ways that help build connections to family and expand their experiences.
