Alexis was welcomed with warm hearts to St. Peters School in Utica on September 3, 2008. "So what?" you say, many kids started school that day.Alexis has cerebral palsy and her mobility is limited. She is the first student in recent memory of the principal and kindergarten teacher to attend with this disability. Despite having virtually no personal experience with a disabled child, the entire school community has made her first weeks warm and secure. As her gramma, I cannot thank the staff enough for their understanding and desire to learn about Alexis' condition and truly try to work within her needs and encourage her to put forth her best effort daily. Because of the love that emits from this school, Alexis looks forward to school every day. She is treated like every other child in the building and she appreciates it.Despite her disabilities all Alexis has ever wanted was the chance to try everything every other child in the world wants to try. She does not see her disability as a barrier and is very motivated. Kudos to all at St. Peters' school.
"Let me try it!!"
