On Monday, October 20, snow geese were beginning their migration through New York state. This photo was taken at Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. We estimated the total flock that landed to be around 1000 birds.

In addition, several thousand Canada geese landed at the refuge to join the thousands of geese and a number of species of ducks already on the water. This is an exciting time of the year to visit the refuge since it is located directly on the migration flyway.
