Students from Madison-Oneida BOCES were treated to a behind the scenes look into ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” on November 13 at the Rossetti Education Center. Mahoney, who is a 1983 alumnus of Madison-Oneida BOCES (Building Trades) was the builder and project supervisor on the show that featured the Hill family from Geneva. He spoke to students from the Construction Trades and Engineering programs.
The “Behind the Scenes” video featured the many vendors, contractors and volunteers that were a part of this true community effort. Tim explained to students that they could also help out their communities. It is his hope that students come away with a better appreciation of the trades and also help someone who may need a hand. He was glad to be invited back to the campus and hopes that the students are inspired to follow their dreams. There was a question and answer session and tour of the Career and Technical Education classrooms after the presentation. Tim Mahoney is owner of Mahoney Design & Build in Canastota.
The Madison-Oneida BOCES Career and Technical Education Center offers more than 20 programs serving students from Camden, Canastota, Hamilton, Madison, Morrisville-Eaton, New York State School for the Deaf, Oneida, Rome, Stockbridge-Valley and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill. Madison-Oneida BOCES cooperatively and responsibly provides educationally focused programs and services, which enable learners to excel.
