Each year NYSARC holds a Design Competition to adopt a new logo for their upcoming convention. This year a group of individuals at The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter Neighborhood Center Day Habilitation program won the competition with their “60th Anniversary” logo design. The Center wanted their logo to show a great deal of symbolism and reflect the convention theme of “60 years of people, progress and potential.”
The bridge is symbolic of a way to cross obstacles and how to handle those we face in everyday life. The cobblestone is a symbol of strength and endurance. The individuals on the bridge represent the 60th Anniversary and their own desires to continue to reach for new direction and fulfillment. The rainbow was chosen, because it is equated with the arc in the Oneida-Lewis logo, and for its beauty and color. The tree next to the water is a symbol of growth.
Representatives from NYSARC will present The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter Neighborhood Center Day Habilitation program with a new laptop computer and a glass etching of their logo on December 2nd at 11:30a.m. at 616 Mary Street, Utica, NY.
