The Local Newspaper lists local football all stars, along with their photos, in the paper yearly. Basketball and baseball get publicity also. However, the high school field hockey girls were snubbed again this year. Their names were listed along with their stats for the season, in tiny print. However, their photos were not published. When I inquired as to why, I was told that it was due to lack of staffing, or budget constraints. If this was truly the case, I am sure that the coaches from each team would have been more than willing to send in a photo of their players. There are plenty of ways to obtain this information, without selling out these fine athletes. A simple phone call could have taken care of this simple detail. I think it is time to start giving equal treatment and coverage to all sports, not just this newspaper's biased coverage. Give the girls their due. They have earned it !!
