Congratulations and kudos to the Silver Blades Synchronized Skating Team! The Silver Blades, through their perseverance and dedication, the support of their family’s, and the skill, encouragement and professional expertise provided by coach Kim Alden-LaFave and assistance from coach Terri Sullivan have contributed to a successful and rewarding 2008-2009 season.
The Silver Blades competed at the 2009 Eastern Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships in Morristown, New Jersey 1/29/09- 2/1/09, placing 4th in the Junior Division, thereby qualifying and governing the right to compete at the U.S. Synchronized “National” Skating Championships.
The 2009 U.S. Synchronized “National” Skating Championships were held in Portland, Maine at the Cumberland County Civic Center 3/4/09 – 3/7/09. This event received live national coverage, broadcast by icenetwork.com. Commentary was provided by two time Olympic figure skating medallist, Nancy Kerrigan. The Silver Blades skated their short and long programs beautifully, placing 13th in the Junior Division. This was definitely the experience of a lifetime that provided many memories to cherish. The team consensus is that it was a truly amazing experience to compete at this event and to meet world class championship teams.
Other competitions/results of the season include the team ranking of silver medallist at the 2009 Empire State Games in Lake Placid, NY, Feb. 2009, the 2009 Colonial Classic Synchronized Team Skating Competition in Lowell, Massachusetts, January 2009 and the 2008 Skaneateles Figure Skating Invitational, December 2008.
