Brandi was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in early winter of 2007. They removed her thyroid glands and as much of the cancer as possible. Followed by approx. 5-6 weeks of Radiation Therapy, and a Radioactive Treatment that kept her secluded for 5 days. She has gone through some awful times, as the radiation had damaged her vocal cords and lung tissue. Making breathing excessively difficult. Even with breathing treatments and medications. She would have to sleep sitting up in a chair every single night!
Finally, Doctors told her she was given a clean bill of health late last year. With relief she continued her healing. Unfortunately, within a year, she noticed a lump on the opposite side of her neck developing. She had more biopsies, and tested positive for cancer again. This time it is so close to her carotid artery the level of difficulties in removing it have multiplied. She is in need of exceptional doctors for this operation. Upon advice of a specialist in NYC, she needs to seek very capable specialists for care. Current health care through her illness has been at St. Elizabeth's, Faxton-St. Luke's Cancer Center, and some specialists outside of Oneida County. Her insurance only covers part of what she NEEDS in order to get all her records straight and configure a plan of action. This is an urgent matter that is a huge burden for her to handle in her current health condition. My brother should be needing to take a lot of time off from work to see to it that she gets this care!
