Oneida-Herkimer BOCES teacher Connie West has been recognized by the New York State Rehabilitation Association (NYSRA) as having provided the most effective service and supports to students in the process of school to work transition. Ms. West was nominated by The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter for her efforts and continued support.
The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter offers a transitional program to all Oneida County Schools in conjunction with Oneida-Herkimer BOCES. This is a program designed to offer school to work transition services for students with disabilities. “Connie West understands and meets the needs of students with disabilities with timely transition planning”, said Laurel Hartman, Arc School to Work Coordinator, “The TRIAD Program is a GED Program for 14 to 21 year-old at risk students who require special education intervention. All of Connie’s classroom instruction is specifically geared towards helping students to achieve their maximum potential.”
