The 2009 Rome Honor America Days parade took place on a gorgeous summer day. By nightfall, however, the rains came and the outdoor concert by the Syracuse Symphony seemed to come to an early conclusion, and the fireworks seemed doomed to postponement. However, a brief break in the rain brought the orchestra back for the 1812 overture with the garrison at Fort Stanwix providing accompanying cannon fire. A stirring rendition of Stars and Stripes Forever introduced the spectacular fireworks show. Well done, Rome!
