On Sunday July 26th, my son Daniel Patric Griffin wed Heather Danielle West at the Great American Irish Festival at the Frankfort Fairgrounds. This was the first time that a wedding was held at the Irish Festival.
Heather and Daniel met at an earlier Irish Festival, and they both delight in their Irish heritage so they felt this was a suitable setting for their wedding. (Their little red-headed daughter was born just after last year's festival!)
The bride wore a traditional wedding gown, but the groom wore a kilt and embroidered jacket rather than a tuxedo. Celtic rings were exchanged, wine drunk from a celtic loving cup, and the minister gave them an Irish Wedding Bell.
The wedding was during the last few hours of the Irish Festival, and after the ceremony they wandered the Festival for a bit before heading to their reception. So if you attended the Irish Festival this past Sunday and you saw a bride and groom there, now you know the story...
