I found this juvenile bald eagle on christmas day on the way to my parents. I uploaded a picture a year ago of a bald eagle on the same road and apparently there are enough around that they are breeding. Here are some facts I found regarding juvenile bald eagles and when their heads turn white.. "Younger bald eagles (usually under five years of age) have various white markings on the body, tail and wings in addition to having a dark gray bill (Farrand 1988; Palmer 1988a)." As you can see from this photo this particular bald eagle as the gray bill and the yellow feet and the various white markings.. and when it flew it is huge.. so the only two things I know is its a juvenile bald eagle and is under the age of 5. Made for a really cool christmas day to find a young one up near my parents.
