2009-2010 RoboSpartans at Dutchess Community College

RoboSpartans Win Championship!

The New Hartford RoboSpartans travelled to Dutchess Community College on February 27, 2010 to compete in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Hudson Valley Championship Tournament. Along with New Hartford's LegoForce and Holland Patent's Girls on the LEGo, the team competed in a field of champions from 5 regional qualifying events. The RoboSpartans took home the Hudson Valley FLL Champions Award for 1st Place Overall along with 1st Place in Robot Performance. New Hartford’s LegoForce took home two second place trophies. All of the FLL Championship trophies are made entirely of LEGO bricks.

The team received an additional teamwork trophy and an invitation to attend the FLL World Festival in Atlanta, Georgia as a Core Values Ambassador Team. The World festival takes place in the Georgia Dome and World Congress Convention Center, April 14 through 17, 2010. They’ll join 83 other teams representing more than 100,000 children who participated in almost 400 qualifying and championship tournaments worldwide during this past year. The World Festival is a global celebration of this experience.

The team was nominated for invitation to the World Festival because they truly demonstrated FLL Core Values through their actions this season. They are one of 12 teams in the nation chosen for this honor.

On Saturday, March 6, 2010, the RoboSpartans will participate in America's Greatest Heart Walk. The team will also be hosting in a number of robotics demonstrations locally including one at Piggy Pat's in New Hartford, Sunday, March 14 and at Deerfield Elementary School, Friday, March 26, 2010.
