We love to wake to a fresh fallen snow on Christmas morning. It is the best reason about living in Central New York. This year did not look like it would pan out. We had a bit of snow, but not much was in the forcast and we were ready to wake to a slightly dirty-white Christmas. To our amazement we opened our eyes to the most amazing sight we had ever seen. It looked like a winter wonderland. When we went out to investigate we noticed the "snow" was actually barbs growing outward and defying gravity. After some inquiry we discovered that it was freezing fog. The right conditions need to be present in order to have it occur and it is very rare. We had never seen it in our lifetime. When my parents arrived to watch the kids open presents they admitted that it was only on our hill that it took place. We said a gift from Mother Nature. Thank you very much!
