Every year, I noticed this swarm of birds flying in a vortex over the park. In 20 years no one could tell me what they were. Where are the Dolgeville Birders when you need them. I just got into birding three years ago and found out what they were. So many people think their bats. I thought I would show what they really are. I watch them go in at dusk and fly out at dawn and video taped it.
These birds are amazing. They spend all day flying almost nonstop and eat and bathe in the air. They don't perch, instead they cling to the walls inside a chimney or hollow tree. Our skies are filled with them every day during the summer. People rarely notice them. Here you see them roost inside the old school chimney.
