Team Arc to Volunteer 150 Strong

The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter will be volunteering on Friday, June 4th at the Opening Ceremonies of the New York State Special Olympics. Team Arc, a group of more than 150 family members, staff members and individuals The Arc supports, will be lining the field at Utica College in a sea of yellow t-shirts. Angela Z. VanDerhoof, The Arc’s Executive Director, will also be present and on stage during the opening events. VanDerhoof will introduce the “Global Messengers” who will be reciting the Athlete’s Oath. “I welcome the Special Olympics Event this year with a feeling of great pride and also some nostalgia. Pride, because it always makes me proud when young people pursue their dreams, exhibit their skills and have fun doing both! Nostalgia, because I remember when the games were here last, sitting in the fan section of the Utica Auditorium and beaming at all of the athletes and obviously many of those from The Arc,” said VanDerhoof.

The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter has been taking part in the New York State Special Olympics for more than 30 years.
