On July 4, 2010, Military Honors for fallen United States Army Specialist Blair Thompson took place at Fort Stanwix National Monument in Rome, New York. On that ground, during a siege by the British in August 1777, Specialist Thompson’s ancestors in arms fought and died to bring the freedom we enjoy. We must never forget the price of maintaining that freedom. Throughout history our Armed Forces have protected us with the same resolve Colonel Peter Gansevoort showed as he refused to surrender the fort, vowing to defend it “…at every hazard, to the last extremity, in behalf of the United States, who have placed me here to defend it against all their enemies”.
God Bless United States of America and all those who serve her. God Bless their families.
