Heat wave

I work in West Utica, and I park my truck under an overhang behind the office. The truck does not receive any direct sunlight, or in other words it sits in full shade all day. This picture was taken at 2:00 pm on 7/7/10. It shows the built in compass and thermometer on my rearview mirror. As you can see, the temperature reads 107 degrees! I've owned the vehicle for about 2 months, and in that time it has consitently been within 1 or 2 degrees of the big digital thermometer on the side of the arterial near Court Street everyday when I pass it on the way to work. Normally I woldn't believe them if someone told me it was that hot in central NY, but given what I've seen of the consistancy of this thermometer, and as far as I know the accuracy of the one that I've compared it to, I have no reason not to be confident in this reading.
