Between the west Canada and the Fulton Chain is Atwell on the south shore of North Lake in Herkimer County. The hamlet is named after a hermit that lived there. He built a cabin he called a wingman. Atwell has an access road called North Rd. You can pick it up from Forestport at the Buffalo Head Resturant. The Lake is the beginning of the Black River. To the north is a mountian called Ice Cave Mountian.

Oops, I miss spelled the cabin name. It's a Wigwam not a wingman. I wish I could edit the article

Nice photo. I love Atwell and although I live in Ohio I rarely get there. Beautiful area.
