I'm so thankful I have a mountain with a fire tower nearby. It gives an excellent view of the surrounding region from the tower. The mountain is just south of Pine Lake and is 2200 feet high from sea level. According to what I have read it's about a 600 foot climb. At the top is a fire tower and cabin. Please don't vandalize them or we all will loose the privilege of using them. There was a fire tower on Dairy Hill near Newport. It's gone because it was severely vandalized. I will never get to see what views it offered of the Kuyahoora and Mohawk Valleys.
In the first picture you see a chain of Lakes. To the right is West Lake. Stretching to the left is Canada Lake. Far and center is Lily Pond leading to Stewart Landing. Just below the mountain is Mud Lake. The Second picture shows Pine Lake with fog in the mountains behind. Route 10 runs up that way to Piseco. The Third picture is the fire tower.
