Rome police searching for suspect in armed robbery at Bill's Variety

ROME, N.Y. -- Rome police are still searching for a suspect following an armed robbery at Bill’s Variety earlier this month.

It happened just before 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, according to police.

The suspect is described as a Black female about 5-feet 3-inches to 5-feet 6-inches tall, who was wearing a red and black winter jacket and a full face mask.

Police say she displayed a gun and demanded money from the cashier. Following a brief scuffle, the suspect ran from the store with an undisclosed amount of money she had taken from the register.

The weapon was left behind at the scene, which officers later determined was a BB gun.

Police are asking anyone who may have surveillance video in the area of West Thomas Street and Ashland Avenue to review the footage for any suspicious activity that may be related to this case.

Anyone with information can call the Rome police tip line at 315-339-7744 or Det. Robert Galluppi at 315-336-7716.
