Student stabbed with small knife at Proctor High School

UTICA, N.Y. (UPDATED) – Utica police were called to Proctor High School Monday after a student was stabbed with a small knife.

Around 12:30 p.m., school resources officers were notified about a 15-year-old student who had suffered a small puncture wound on his stomach during a fight with a classmate.

While investigating, police found that one of the students was in possession of a small knife that had caused the injury.

The injured student was treated by school medical staff and did not require further care.

Police say this was an isolated incident and other students and staff were not in danger.

In accordance with the school district’s Code of Conduct, the students involved were disciplined to the fullest extent, including removal from school.

The UPD Juvenile Aid Unit will continue to investigate and bring charges if necessary.

The students’ names will not be released unless charges are filed.

Enhanced security measures have also been put in place at the school following this incident.
