ROME, NY - Many farmers these days have had to adjust with the times and change the way they farm their land. Some, like Wagner Farms in Rome, have turned to agrotourism as their new cash crop.
The farm just opened their corn and sunflower mazes and people are already flocking there to check them out.
There are two separate fields of sunflowers on the Wagner farm. One contains the traditional yellow sunflower, the other a 4-acre field of 24 different colored sunflowers.
So what's the reason people are drawn to these fields like bees to a flower?
"It's all about the photo-ops,” says owner-operator Ronald Wagner.
"Over a million photos a year get taken out here. Wedding photos, baby photos, pregnancy photos, graduation photos, senior photos, you name it. We have professional photographers that will do mini sessions out here starting in August”.
If you'd like to check out the sunflowers at Wagner Farms - and maybe update your profile picture - they're open daily from 10 to 6.
