There was plenty of live music and fireworks.

WESTERN, N.Y. - Following a year that saw a continued increase in the number of people testing positive for Covid and a devastating tornado that tore through the Town of Western, you would think the Woods Valley Ski Area wouldn't have much of a reason to celebrate.

But you'd be wrong.

They have 58 reasons to celebrate.

Saturday evening, Woods Valley celebrated 58 years of fun in the great outdoors with a night of skiing and tubing that also included live music from the band Caution, and a huge fireworks display.

The new fireplace room - part of the ongoing renovations at Woods Valley - was open to the public, and there was plenty of outside patio space to enjoy all the festivities.

“We wouldn't be here celebrating 58 years if it wasn't for our great customers”, said owner Tim Woods. “I want to thank all the past and present customers at Woods Valley. I'd also like to encourage any potential future customers to come check us out. Fireworks in January are kind of cool. Luckily it's a beautiful night. We've done them in rain storms, snow storms, had to postpone them because of cold weather, so this is nice to have a perfect winter's night”.

Woods Valley officials say they plan on taking advantage of a great snow making forecast this week and look forward to being 100 percent open very soon.
