MARCY, N.Y. - A benefit at 12 North Sports Bar was held for the family impacted by Peterson's Exotic Pets fire.

The fire destroyed the building, killing all of the animals inside just two weeks ago.

Peterson's Exotic Pets has been a staple in Rome since 1970.

Christopher Plumley, the organizer of this benefit, is a close friend of the family and put this event together to raise money for the family to rebuild their store.

"This is my way of giving back to them because the've always been kind to me and understanding and always helped me, gave me a place to stay," Plumley said.

The new store is already open, just a few doors down from the one old one.
