UTICA, N.Y. - Indium Corporation has joined sixteen other Central New York manufactures in coordination with the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) to take a pledge to keep employees safe and the factories running.

The pledge is designed to provide manufacturers with best practices and standards of protection.

"The pledge is really a process," Ross Berntson, President and Chief Operating Officer says of Indium Corporation said. "We were sharing ideas, then we documented those ideas, and now we signed the pledge and execute, but then we also do a review process with someone in our cohort, so they review to make sure were doing what we're supposed to be doing."

Indium Corporation is an essential business, so they have been open during the pandemic, but they hope to help businesses with their reopening strategy.

The pledge includes a list of guidelines for companies to follow. Those include controlling site traffic, enhancing hygiene protocols, social distancing to reduce density, on-site emergency response, and improving communication with employees, the community, and customers.

Right now, Indium Corporation is only allowing employees in the building, they must wear a mask when they walk in the door, get a temperature check, and wash their hands after they sign in.

"The practices we put in place, we believe are necessary for all manufactures to make sure they're doing the best they can to mitigate any transmission on-site," Berntson said. "I think we can help get other manufacturers up and running by having these practices in place."
