COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. - The Farmer's Museum in Cooperstown held a Fourth of July celebration.

At noon, the Declaration of Independence was read aloud at the tavern green and a local militia fired muskets as it was read.

Museum artisans were spread out throughout the campus, demonstrating traditional activities such as blacksmithing, letterpress printing, and other trades.

"Its a pretty laid back day, so people can walk around and enjoy themselves and visit with the interpreters and listen to the Declaration of Independence and its just a great day to be together on independence," Teresa Glisson, program director said.

The museum also had games for kids, as well as their new craft beer exhibit for the adults.
