REMSEN -- With tens-of-thousands of people attending the 39th Remsen Barn Festival Emergency personnel were there for safety precautions.
This year's barn fest saw over 300 vendors, and thousands of visitors.
The Remsen Fire Dept. says with there being so many people at the festival, anything is bound to happen. The fire department makes sure they are easily accessible during large events such as, and that EMS are on standby for when someone is in need.
Fire officials say they have helped out with incidents ranging from bee stings to someone falling, to even worse cases.
Remsen Fire Chief Scott Kahl says that safety at big events is important.
"We put together a plan, so we have a whole operation's plan for the whole weekend and then we just sit here and hope nothing happens,” Kahl said. “We're in command and in control of all of the emergency services that are going on at the barn festival so we're in charge of making sure that everything is in place."
The fire department also had main street blocked off with hard barriers to ensure that no one could drive through, so that the festival crowds would be safe.
Although the Barn Festival is over. It will be back next year for it’s 40th year.
