UTICA, N.Y. – Registration has opened for the new Miles for Hope event that will be taking the place of the CNY Ride for Missing Children this year.
Earlier in June, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) announced that a virtual fundraiser would be held instead of the annual ride, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Miles for Hope event will take place throughout the month of September, when participants can collect donations, and walk on their own or in small groups. They can follow routes set out by the NCMEC, or walk their own course.
“This September we will harness our collective energy and join together as one Team with one Mission - to make children safer,” said Jody Wheet, program director for the Mohawk Valley branc. “This event will raise critical funds to support the cause and with children spending more time online, away from the safe haven of school and camp, the need is greater than ever.”
Money raised by Miles for Hope will be used for poster distribution and educational community programs.
There is no registration fee or minimum fundraising requirement.
