UTICA -- The Utica Common Council put together a proclamation for former Utica Fire Chief Russel Brooks.
Councillors say they want to thank him for his 42 years of service. The proclamation will be presented to him at his retirement party.
During Wednesday's meeting, councilwoman Samantha Colosimo Testa said she wishes Chief Brooks the best in his retirement.
"It’s an honor, I mean Brooks not only became a colleague and somebody to work with, but he became a friend over the years," Colosimo Testa said. "It’s nice to be able to do something like that for him."
The Utica Common Council voted unanimously to pass the proclamation at Wednesday's meeting.
