BOONVILLE, N.Y. -- For the second year in a row, the chainsaws will remain silent at the Boonville-Oneida County Fairgrounds over COVID-19 restrictions.
Organizers of the 2021 Woodsmen's Field Days, originally set from Aug. 20 - 22, say the event is canceled.
Officials posted the announcement to Facebook on Tuesday, citing concerns over capacity, spacing and limits put on participation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Local residents, as well as people from several other states and countries, often visit Boonville each year to take part in the weekend events. Officials say the safety of everyone involved will always remain their top priority.
Event organizers remain hopeful about resuming the event in 2022, scheduling the next Woodsmen's Field Days for Aug. 19 - 22, 2022.
All advance sale tickets from 2021 will still be honored in 2022.
