Holland Patent, N.Y. - Class B state-ranked No. 1 Clinton scored one goal in each half and held No. 2 Holland Patent off the board in order capture a 2-0 road shutout in an important CSC-I girls soccer match-up, Monday.
It was the Warriors' second win over the Golden Knights this season.
Freshman Madison Luke scored just over 17 minutes into the first half to put Clinton on the board. In the second, after pressuring for much of the game, junior Gwen Williams put a long-range shot into the goal to double the Warriors lead with 18:21 remaining.
Avery Maxam and Wiley Gifford tallied assists for Clinton in the win. Kaitlyn Williams made seven saves in goal.
For the Knights, Haedyn Roberts stopped nine shots.
Clinton improves to 10-1-1 overall (6-0 league) to remain atop the CSC-I. Holland Patent drops to 10-2 overall (5-1 league) and falls to second.
