Girls Soccer
Poland 2, CVA 1*
Amanda Sweet scored in the first half and Lexi Bates scored late in the second as the defending Class B state champion Tornadoes topped the Class B state runner-up Thunder in a heavyweight battle.
Poland had possession for much of the first half, but CVA keeper Cameron Mosher mad four saves to keep it a one-goal game.
CVA came out firing in the second half, controlling much of the pace, and finally broke through with just under 11 minutes remaining with Emma Donahue finding the back of the net.
The Tornadoes took advantage of an opportunity when they got it though with Bates redirecting a cross from Lily Martin with under seven minutes to play for the game-winner.
Jessica Batson had five saves for Poland in goal.
