UTICA, N.Y. -- Our team of first-time runners are ready to Go The Distance in the 2019 Boilermaker Road Race.
The team is led by Coach Joe Wilczynski, and our own Kristen Copeland, and the group of 10 runners have trained for the last 12 weeks to make the 2018 race their first.
Through good weather and bad the team, as most teams do, bonded right from the start and as we say, the training is the hard part, the race is easy now.
This group is ready – to Go The Distance.
“The team is just fantastic. They're so supportive. I’m not one of the fastest runners. I’m usually one of the last to go, but they're always there cheering me on. Even the support from all the volunteers has been great too,” said Tanya Marr, a GTD runner.
“I have a great team on the Go The Distance team. A great support from the Mohawk Valley Hill Striders and our running coach. I’ve learned a lot since running with these people. it has really helped me,” said Gaetano Lagata, another GTD runner.
A reminder if you want to get reacquainted with our group Friday night on CBS Utica at 7 p.m. Kristen Copeland hosts our Go The Distance recap show.
