COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- Earlier Friday morning, Play Ball with Ozzie took place on the grounds of the Clark Sport Center.
It's the 18th year for this event.
This year along with Ozzie Smith, were Hall of Famers Jim Thome, Trevor Hoffman, and Alan Trammel.
It's a fundraiser for the Hall of Fame education programs.
Two hours of nonstop interaction with the greats of the game.
“The hard work and the dedication that it takes to make it to a place like this hopefully it inspires them to work harder and be the best they can be and understand that if you do that you’re consistent at your craft and you one day of the possibility of having a plaque in the gallery,” said Smith.
“It’s great enthusiasm for the kids that we’ve already had a chance to kind of take pictures with and see their excitement that’s kind of what it’s about. It’s about getting back to the grassroots really the kids getting running around and being able to do with some of the guys is pretty cool,” said Trevor Hoffman.
Each participant receives time on the field with baseball legends, as well as personalized photo and special mementos of the occasion.
