WESTMORELAND – The Westmoreland Summer Activities Association is closer to reaching its fundraising goal to reopen the town pool, thanks to a grant from Stewart’s Shops.
Stewart’s Shops’ Holiday Match is a collection program matched by the company, which ran between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Between customer donations and the match from Stewart’s, the company was able to donate $1,000 to the Westmoreland Summer Activities Association.
“The people in Westmoreland have been generous in their support for the town pool,” said Scott Tarkowski, president of the Westmoreland Summer Activities Association, in a news release. “It helps a lot when companies that do business in town, like Stewart’s, step up to match that support.”
According to the Association’s website, the goal is to raise $60,000 to restore and reopen Westmoreland’s Anna Newman Kunz Memorial Town Pool. So far, about $40,000 has been raised.
