OTEGO, N.Y. – New York State Police in Oneonta arrested two women during a traffic stop in Otego Monday, after finding a loaded firearm in the vehicle.
Mia E. Lowry, 22, of Pembroke, N.C., was stopped for a traffic infraction in I-88, when troopers say they smelled marijuana in the vehicle, and saw a one-and-a-half-month-old child sitting on the lap of the front-seat passenger, 26-year-old Christy R. Holden, of Lumberton N.C.
Upon further investigation, troopers found Lowry with a loaded handgun.
Lowry is charged with criminal possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.
Holden was also charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.
Both women were arraigned virtually.
Lowry was remanded to the Otsego County jail on $500 cash bail, and Holden was released on her own recognizance.
Both are scheduled to return to Otego court on Sept. 17.
