LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. – Two women have been arrested and charged with arson, after allegedly causing a fatal fire in January at Snyder Apartments in Little Falls.
On April 23, Little Falls police arrested 48-year-old Patricia Nethaway. She is charged with second-degree arson, a B felony. Nethaway was a resident on the fifth floor of the apartment building at the time of the fire.
Police also arrested 37-year-old Amber Roche on April 24, in connection with the incident. She is also charged with second-degree arson.
Both women are being held at Herkimer County Correction Facility on $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.
Little Falls Fire Department responded to the scene of the fire on Jan. 6, and quickly contained and extinguished the flames after evacuating 20 people from the complex.
Fire crews later discovered third-floor resident Timothy D. Regan, 60, had died in the fire.
Fire officials say the fire damage was primarily on the third floor of the building, but there was smoke and water damage throughout.
The police department and Office of Fire Prevention and Control have been investigating the cause of the fire since it happened, which led to the two arrests.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, and both suspects may face further charges.
